Vienna for a weekend

Vienna is grand and easy: imperial palaces, world-class museums, coffee houses and an evening at the opera or a wine tavern on the city’s edge. Public transport is superb, and the airport train takes about 16 minutes.

What to see in two days

  1. St Stephen's Cathedral
  2. Schönbrunn Palace
  3. Hofburg and the Ringstrasse
  4. Belvedere (Klimt's The Kiss)
  5. Naschmarkt

Best: April–June and September–October. Advent (late November–December) is magical with markets everywhere. Winter is cold but the museums are perfect for it.
